Fat Joe Keeps It Real With His Kids
When it comes to flexing riches on social media, rapper Fat Joe lets his kids know that’s not their lane.
On a recent episode of the “I Am Athlete” podcast, Joe stated he values being honest with your kids about finances.
Fat Joe says he keeps it all the way real with his wife and kids, telling them not to be too caught up in the lavish lifestyles they see on social media, especially regarding kids of famous rappers.
“We are not Sean Combs or Shawn Carter, Jay-Z”, the rapper admits to telling his son after the 19 year old showed his father a picture of the son of a famous rapper on a private jet, letting his dad know “This is how the sons are moving now.”
Fat Joe was quick to remind his son that their family isn’t those families and not to give too much energy in trying to match wealth with others.
“Stay in your lane, because a lot of… and it can be women, too… a lot of men lose themselves by not trying to keep it real with themselves”, says Fat Joe.
I agree with Fat Joe’s take on not worrying about living up to the next person’s status. Your accomplishments and status should never rest on the opinion and acceptance of others. If you’re unhappy without it, you’ll still be unhappy with it.
