Oxford High School Shooting Suspect To Claim Insanity
Ethan Crumbley, the student charged with shooting and killing four students at Oxford High School will pursue the insanity defense according to his lawyers.
This will of course lead to mental examinations to determine whether or not 15-year old Crumbley, who is being charged with murder as an adult, understood the severity of his actions at the time.
Under Michigan law, if a person is found guilty by reason of insanity they don’t walk free and can be imprisoned but with recommendation that they receive treatment.
The judge overseeing the case will decide if the insanity plea is valid only after results of mental examinations are presented.
Yet another development unfolding off the heels of a tragic event that has left a community still picking up the pieces.
