Doja Cat Announces Release Date For New Single
The Doja Cat drought is soon to be over. The singer took to social media on Tuesday (June 13) to reveal that her new single will be arriving on Friday (June 16). The California native did not reveal the title of the track yet but the cover art for the single has an upside-down “A” written in blood. She simply wrote, “6.16.23” with the blood drop emoji.

We’re thinking that the track has something to do with the “scarlet letter,” as Doja has been dropping a few hints in the last couple of weeks on social media. On May 24, the “Kiss Me More” singer tweeted, “scarlet was here” with a blood drop emoji. On June 9, she tweeted, “scarlet’s watching” with the blood drop emoji making an appearance yet again. Over the weekend, she wrote, “let myself heal, scar finally sealed,” signed, again, with the blood drop emoji.
If Doja is alone on this song, it would be her first solo effort of the year. She previously hopped on the remix of SZA’s hit back in April. The original plan however was for Doja to assist SZA on “Shirt” which was released last year.

“She had surgery, she had to have that emergency, like, vocal cord surgery and she wasn’t ready in the time that we needed to get the song done,” SZA explained, per Billboard. “There was a crossfire between, I think, her management and my management, and they had told us it was done, but it wasn’t actually done.
“It was just a lot of confusion,” she continued, “but don’t know. I hope for the best, and I’m still, like, a major fan of her and her artistry. And I think she’s so incredible and I would love to get her on the deluxe [version].”
Doja has also been hinting that fans should be receiving her fourth studio album, First of All sometime soon.
