Cardi B Announces New Song ‘Bongos’ With Megan Thee Stallion
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are back. Cardi B announced that she will be enlisting Megan for their upcoming song “Bongos.” This is the Bronx native’s first song of 2023 as a lead artist. This is also Megan’s first song of the year.
“Bongos” is the first song the two have had together since 2020’s “WAP.” Since then, Cardi released “Up” in 2021 and “Hot S—” featuring Kanye and Lil Durk in 2022 as the lead artist. The Bronx native has also assisted artists on the remix of their songs, including GloRilla’s “Tomorrow 2” (2022), Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor Again (2023), and FendiDa Rappa’s “Point Me 2” (2023) to name a few. She also jumped on Offset’s “Jealousy” which dropped in July. Cardi’s last full-length project was her debut album Invasion of Privacy in 2018. The album won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammys. She became the first female rapper to win the award as a solo artist. The success of Invasion of Privacy has aided in her anxiety about releasing her sophomore project the artist previously mentioned.
“When it comes to music and everything, I just be feeling like I don’t be liking anything,” she said back in December on Instagram Live. “I feel like I got so many songs and I don’t like anything. I feel like nothing is good enough… And I got so much money saved up I just be like, ‘Yeah, whatever the f—.'”
Her children whom she has two with her husband Offset (Wave and Kulture) played a role in not wanting to drop a new album.
“I’m just a mom and I do have anxiety,” she said at the time. “I’ve been having a lot of anxiety, because I know right after I drop my album, I have to go out on tour and I have bad separation anxiety from my kids.”
However, that mindset has since changed since the rapper has since revealed to Vogue México y Latinoamérica in her September cover story that she’s ready.
“I’m not going to release any more collaborations, I’m going to put out my next solo single,” she shared. “Right now, I’m working on the cover art and ideas for the next record because it’s definitely coming up.”
“Bongos” is set to release on Friday (Sept. 8).
