Nicki Minaj Teases EP Before ‘Pink Friday 2’ Drop
Barbz, you might be in for a treat. Nicki Minaj is teasing that an EP might drop before her Pink Friday 2 on Dec. 8, the rap queen’s 41st birthday. Over the weekend, Nicki was on social media heavy as she was answering fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) and conducted multiple Instagram Live sessions where she played unreleased music.
“I think an EP with these songs is actually a great idea @RepublicRecords,” Nicki tweeted on Saturday (Nov. 4).
Fans began eating up the possibility that they might get an EP from Nicki.
“CALL IT A BARBIE PACK,” one fan suggested.
“The Pink EP!!!!” another fan chimed in, adding, “It’s needed because these are sickening!”
“A limited edition vinyl of it would be great. I would buy a couple copies,” another fan wrote.
Nicki Minaj Pushes Back Pink Friday 2 Again
There has been no announcement at the time of this writing on whether her record label has approved her releasing an EP before Pink Friday 2. This possible EP release follows what she told fans in October that she would be pushing back Pink Friday 2 yet again.
“I have never in my life been so in love with something that I’m working on,” Nicki said in an Instagram Live video addressing the date change. She said that the album has been in the works for five years. She says the five-year gap between albums is partially due to the writer’s block she had during her pregnancy with her son, who she calls “Papa Bear.” As for the release date change for Pink Friday 2, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz announced that they would be dropping a collab album. Welcome 2 Collegrove is set to arrive on Nov. 17, which was Nicki’s original release date for Pink Friday 2. Nicki and Wayne have a tight friendship, as he was the one who signed her to Young Money Entertainment in 2009.
“Weezy and 2 Chainz, they announced their date. And you know how me and Weezy play. He would never,” Nicki said.
Before this delay, she announced in June that Pink Friday 2 would not be coming out in October. The rapper wanted to make some additional tweaks to the project.
