North West Working on Debut Album & 5 Other “Kid Rappers” You Have to Hear
Kanye has been holding listening parties for his Vultures 2 album and at an event in Phoenix, Arizona, he brought out his 10-year old daughter, North West, for an announcement.
North told Kanye’s fans, “I’ve been working on an album. And it’s called Elementary School Dropout.” Of course, the title is a nod to her dad’s 2004 album, College Dropout, and it would stand to reason that Kanye will have a big hand in producing his daughter’s debut.
In February, North appeared in the music video for Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s song “Talking / Once Again”. In the video, North raps this verse as she gets her hair done, “It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie / Don’t tryna test me / It’s gonna get messy / It’s gonna get messy / Just, just bless me”. Check out the vid below.
Miss West Has A Lot of Ambition
North appeared on the cover of i-D’s Fall/Winter 2023 issue and shared what she wants to be when she grows up. In the interview, North said she wants to be, “A basketball player, a rapper, um…Well when I was 7 I wanted to be a boxer, but now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side.”
She added, “When I’m like, 13, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner.” If nothing else, she has a lot of ambition.
Although North still has a lot of time to change her mind, with parents like Kanye and Kim Kardashian, there’s no question that she’ll have the opportunity to do whatever her heart desires.
There’s no release date for a single or for the album, but we’ll all be waiting to hear what the 10-year old does. If you’re skeptical about what a 10-year old can do on the mic, check out some other “kid rappers” we found on YouTube.
