Ice Spice To Make Her Acting Debut In Spike Lee’s ‘High and Low’ Remake
Ice Spice is taking on a new role: actor. She is going to have her acting debut in Spike Lee’s remake of High and Low. Denzel Washington will also be starring in the film, marking Lee and Washington’s fifth film together. They began their film journey in 1990 with Mo’ Better Blues; they have since worked together on Malcolm X, He Got Game and Inside Man. In commemoration of their fifth film together, the two posed for a photo holding up their hands (symbolizing “five”).

The film is an English-language reinterpretation of the Akira Kurosawa crime thriller of the same name. The film will be produced by Todd Black, according to Variety. Black and Washington have also collaborated over the years in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Fences, and The Equalizer franchise.
Ice Spice To Make Her Acting Debut
As for Ice Spice, she has already begun shooting for the film, according to the publication. The Bronx native is in good hands as Lee is known to break talent and has helped foster the careers of several actors, including Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Halle Berry, Rosie Perez, RuPaul, and more. At this time, there is no word on what role Spice will play in the film.
Besides the film, which doesn’t have a release date at this time, Munchkins also has more music in store for them this year. Spice’s debut album Y2K is set to be released at some point this year. “Y2K” is the abbreviation for Year 2000, which is fitting for the Bronx drill artist who was born on January 1, 2000, at the turn of the millennium. On social media, the rapper posted two photos of herself wearing a signature mini skirt, orange fro, and a lollipop with the caption, “I finished recording y2k the album.”
In January, she confirmed that there is a project in the works during her interview with The Today Show.
“Yes, there’s gonna be an album,” Ice Spice told co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “I’m so excited.”
She added that she had “a crazy collaboration that just got locked in, like two days ago” at the time.
Ice Spice first teased the project back in November when she posted a photo of herself with a tattoo on her lower back. While the exact meaning of the tattoo is unknown, the caption read, “?/?/24.”
Right now, there is no official release date for the album, but she told Billboard that she’s proud of what she has so far for the album.
“I think this is some of my best work,” the rapper teased.
