19-year-old Tik Tok Star Swavy Dead After Gunshot Wound
Matima Miller, 19, who was known on TikTok as “Swavy” is dead after a gunshot wound, authorities reported Monday.
Swavy’s family notified fans through a post on his Instagram account, “On the behalf of our family, we would like to say thank you for the continued support and love for Matima Miller also known as Swavy or Babyface. It is with great sadness that we announce Swavy’s passing on 07/05/2021.”
According to a statement released by the Wilmington Police Department, Swavy was transported to the hospital on Monday and later succumbed to his injuries. In the report, they did not issue where the 19-year-old was shot.
Swavy was well known on social media for his dancing and had gained 2.7 million followers on TikTok and 400k followers on Instagram.
Currently, Swavy’s TikTok account has been suspended and his family is asking TikTok to unlock his account because it is a part of his legacy. “We ask that everyone @tiktok to retrieve Matima’s TikTok Page as soon as possible! His page is his legacy! All of the content that he created and all the people he touched, this needs to be resolved.”
Fans sent love and support for Swavy’s family in the comments as one user posted, “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 sending my condolences to all his family and friends. I enjoyed tiktok because of him” and another commented, “We as his fans and supporters are always going to be with you . We thank you for sharing and celebrating the life of Matima with us !! ❤️❤️”
His family has created a GoFundMe page which has received over $13,000 in donations, a little over half of its $20,000 goal.
