This Michigan City Has Some of the Best Tippers in the Entire U.S.
The holidays are here, and Michiganders are apparently in a giving spirit. The folks at Popmenu have put together a list of the cities that are the highest tippers, and one Michigan city is among them. As a former waitress at a great local bar in mid-Michigan, I approve this message.
People across the U.S. are in a more generous mood. According to the study, 58% of consumers say they have increased the amount they usually tip servers and delivery drivers during the pandemic, 30% have been tipping the same and only 6% have been tipping less. Add to that, 6% don’t typically tip ever. So, which Michigan city is among the best in the U.S. for tipping? Detroit, with a tipping average of 34%! Check out the top 10 below.
“The pandemic has created a more giving America when it comes to tipping restaurant staff,” Brendan Sweeney, CEO and co-founder of Popmenu, said in a statement. “Consumers know this is an industry that has been hit hard and they want to support their favorite eateries, especially staples of their local community. As discussions around compensation structure for restaurant workers continue throughout the industry, this is good news for a profession that is largely dependent upon the generosity of guests in recognition of great food and service.”
