Michigan Kids Save School Bus Driver from Scary Health Incident
A group of Michigan kids are heroes after saving their school bus driver from a scary incident. It’s this kind of story that warms my heart. I feel good about the future, knowing that kids these days are smart enough, and caring enough, to think quickly and act fast in a scary situation.
Late last week around 6:45 a.m., a bus was in the Mulliken taking students to Grand Ledge schools. A spokesman (according to WLNS) said the bus driver begin to suffer from a medical condition and had to pull the bus over. The bus driver then tried to get in touch with dispatch over the radio but couldn’t talk much.
Can you imagine how scary this was for students? I remember when I was young enough to take the bus to school, the biggest thing we had to worry about was if we were picking too many dandelions to give the bus driver. I don’t remember any kind of a panicky incident on busing during my entire time in school. That said, these kids were prepared and knew exactly what to do to save their driver.
When students realized their bus driver was in serious trouble, they called 911. Another student used the radio to tell the dispatch that something wasn’t right. Eventually, a volunteer firefighter came, followed by an ambulance. The good news is that the bus driver survived, according to WLNS. The students were driven to school by another employee who showed up and finished the route. Big kudos to these students for their hard work and quick action, which ended up saving a life. It’s such a feel-good story and one definitely worth sharing. Moreover, these parents should give their kids props for doing the right thing in a sticky situation. For more on this story, go here.
