Lil Nas X Falls In Love With ‘Homophobic Protester’ Outside His Concert
Lil Nas X doesn’t let the haters get him down. While recently playing a show in Boston, the musician was met with a group of protestors outside of the venue. On Sunday (September 18) night, the demonstrators had Christian-themed signs and shirts outside of Boston’s MGM Music Hall.
The 23-year-old responded by doing what he does best: trolling the haters with love and light. This time, through pizza. Replying to a fan who tweeted footage of the protestors, Lil Nas X wrote, “Just told my team to send them pizza, this is really good promo!”

After the demonstrators rejected his act of goodwill, Lil Nas X couldn’t help but notice one demonstrator in particular. “Update: they didn’t want the pizza,” he tweeted, adding that he “accidentally fell in love with one of the homophobic protestors.” He also included a video of the pizza rejection and the protestor who captivated his heart as Sufjan Stevens’ “Mystery of Love” plays in the background. The song is part of 2018’s Call Me By Your Name soundtrack, a film in which stars Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet play lovers. The movie inspired Lil Nas X’s own track “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly last year, Lil Nas X talked about the importance “Montero” has for him. “At first I was really afraid of alienating any of my straight fans,” he said. “But then it was kind of like, if they feel offended, they were never really here for me. They were here for whatever version of myself they made up in their head.”
Giving an update to his nearly 8 million Twitter followers, Lil Nas X wrote, “Can’t stop thinking about the cute homophobic guy [that] was protesting my concert last night. I just know we had a connection. I miss him so much man. I’m nothing without him.”
