Seinfeld AI Has Become Self-Aware and Crazy!
In December 2022, an AI intelligence has been constantly running one endless episode of Seinfeld and has become self-aware! The show is called Nothing, Forever. The show has all your favorites, Elaine, George, Kramer, and of course Jerry. They are all animated in crude resemblances. They remind me of that video “Money for Nothing”. Or that old Monkey Island game. The show ran on Twitch 24/7.
The “show” runs similarly to a standard Seinfeld episode. It starts with “robo” Jerry giving a monologue, then he hangs out at his apartment and then back to the stand-up club. Strange moments of laughter occur and then it starts all over.
On screencrush.com, the co-creator of Nothing, Forever, Skyler Hartle, said this about the project:
“The actual impetus for this was it originally started its life as this weird, very, off-center kind of nonsensical, surreal art project. But then we kind of worked over the years to bring it to this new place. And then, of course, generative media and generative AI just kind of took off in a crazy way over the past couple of years …”

And like that moment in Terminator about Skynet, Seinfeld became self-aware on February 3rd, 2023! The character, Elaine started a conversation about existence that seemed creepily like self-awareness.
This is the conversation:
“Did you ever stop and think this might be one big cosmic joke?” asks AI Elaine.
“Well, I don’t think it’s all necessarily, all, y’know…” AI George trails off.
“I know,” says AI Elaine, a trace of resignation in her robotic tone. “I just mean, like, why are we here?”
“To tell jokes, obviously,” George replies.
AI Elaine presses on. “I mean, why are we here together?” She sits on the couch; no one faces each other.
“Maybe fate put us in the same place together for a reason? asks AI Jerry, scratching his pixeled bouffant in thought. Laugh track stings, and swells, and then swells again.

Then, Seinfeld went crazy. According to verge.com, the Seinfeld AI went onto a transphobic rant on February 6th and Twitch shut the show down.
So after becoming self-aware, the bot somehow transitioned into a jerk. I feel like there is a million twisted philosophical discussions that are going to be had and laughed about.
Yet, could we be moments away from a robot apocalypse or just a bunch of robots being jerks? What’s next? AI bots battling it out in YouTube comment section?
