Kanye Is Reportedly Working On An Album With James Blake
Kanye West and James Blake might have an album underway, according to a producer who worked on the former’s Donda 2.
“All I want for Christmas is for Ye to finish dis James Blake album,” Fat Money wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “The world deserve dis s— smh.”
Kanye and James Blake’s History Of Working Together
The two have a long history of admiration for one another.
Back in 2014, Blake teased a potential collab with each other, but nothing had come to fruition at that time.
“I have a lot of respect for [Kanye], for what he has been releasing for years,” he told the Miami New Times. “We haven’t done a great deal of work in the same room yet, but we’ve done a few things, kind of helped each other with our own music.”
A year prior to Blake’s interview, Ye named Blake as one of his “favorite” artists, per Complex.
They have, however, worked together since the interviews. Blake admitted that he produced three songs for Kanye, which the rapper previewed at London Fashion Week last year.
“It’s my birthday, and Kanye West is playing tracks we made,” Blake wrote, also confirming he produced the other two songs Ye played per Rolling Stone. “I’m good for presents thanks.”
A fan originally thought that Ye sampled “Always,” which Blake released in 2016.

In 2016, Blake released The Colour in Anything, which Ye originally was supposed to be a part of, but it didn’t pan out.
“Something was supposed to happen; I don’t really know how to describe how that didn’t work out,” Blake told Pitchfork at the time. “I wanted Kanye to be on the song ‘Timeless,’ but the verse didn’t materialize.”
While it would be a great treat for the two to get into the studio and create a project, neither of the musicians has confirmed that there are plans for them to release a joint album.
