Drake: What Does His New Face Tattoo Mean?
Drake is rocking new ink. The Toronto rapper was out over the weekend at Tyrone “T-rex” Edwards’ Nostalgia Party. Photographer Brent Kore snapped a shot of Drake on his Instagram Story and fans couldn’t help but notice that Drizzy had a new tattoo on his face.
Right above the rapper’s right eyebrow reads the word: “miskeen.” The word has Arabic and Aharic (Ethiopian Semitic language) origins of the word miskin meaning “poor.” It is also used in Toronto as slang for “misfortune.” According to the University of Toronto Magazine, it means “a pathetic person or situation.”
The rapper has not publicly clarified the meaning of the tattoo for him.
This is not Drake’s first face tattoo. Last year, he got a face tattoo honoring his mom. He got his mom Sandra Gale’s initials ‘SG’ tattooed under his left eye.
2023 Billboard Music Awards
In other Drake news, he cleaned up at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (Nov. 19). He won Top Rap Album for his collab LP with 21 Savage, Her Loss. The duo beat out Future’s I Never Liked You, Lil Baby’s It’s Only Me, Metro Boomin’s HEROES & VILLAINS, and Travis Scott’s Utopia. The duo’s “Rich Flex” from Her Loss also got Top Rap Song, which won over Coi Leray’s “Players,” Gunna’s “F–UMean,” Lil Durk and J. Cole’s collab on “All My Life,” and Toosii’s “Favorite Song.”
Drake also took home Top Rap Artist and Top Male Rap Artist as he took the crown over many of his peers in the genre.
While 21 was on the “It’s All A Blur Tour” with Drake, Drizzy won Top Rap Touring Artist coming out on top of 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. He recently announced that he will be back on tour with J. Cole for their It’s All A Blur Tour: Big As The What? The two MCs hit the road in January.
