Dodge Fountain at Hart Plaza has been successfully restored with running water and night lights in different colors.
Like we talked about on Shannon’s Scoop this morning, we knew this was in the works, but now the city has officially restored the Dodge Fountain at Hart Plaza, ahead of the NFL Draft.
It’s now running actual water. I think most people didn’t even know it ran water, since it hasn’t been working for so long. And the fountain lights up at night. It looks like a club, actually, with flashing lights and everything.
This is going to be awesome for events like the Movement Festival, assuming the weather is good. Because you never know with Movement. Sometimes it’s 70 during the day and then 40-degrees at night. But when you’re dancing, it don’t matter. That’s all I do at Movement. Don’t talk to me. I’m dancing.
So, it’s an exciting thing, but honestly, the comments I saw on the Instagram post were hilarious. One said, “Amazing how much cleaning happens when company comes over.” Another said, “Y’all are acting like the rich side of the family is coming over.” So funny.
Regardless of the reason, I’m glad to see it. Check out the IG post below to see it lit up and scroll down for a video of the history and restoration of the Dodge Fountain.

5 Hotels Near Hart Plaza for the Movement Detroit Festival
Movement Detroit. There is nothing like it. It is an iconic electronic music festival and is exclusive to Detroit on Memorial Day Weekend. People travel from all over the world to attend every year and has been going on for nearly 25 years. I mean the city has had an influential role in the development of techno as a genre so of course we have to celebrate that!
I feel so incredibly lucky as a music fan to live right here and have been able to attend for many years. Many years of completely losing yourself in the music, making friends, and dancing for hours on end. The music has this infectious energy that grabs hold of you, making you surrender to the beats and putting you in in a musical trance. Many of the songs do not have lyrics so the beat has got to be supreme and has to move your soul. You can feel it in your bones. I usually dress up each year in a different costume including a unicorn, Superwoman, a butterfly and more. Of course this is optional.
