Detroit Lions Beat L.A. Rams in Riveting 24-23 Victory
All of Detroit held their breath on Sunday night (Jan. 14), as the Detroit Lions hosted the Los Angeles Rams in a NFL Wild Card playoff game. Every Detroit Lions fan I talked to could hardly sleep or eat leading up to this game. Everyone knew this would be a close game, and boy, was it. I can’t remember being so stressed out watching a game. The Lions have come so far this year, and I just didn’t want to see it all end, after everything this team has done to get to the top of the NFC. But, yes, my friend, the Detroit Lions beat the L.A. Rams, and it was beautiful. So beautiful.
The game got extra tight in the final quarter. How tight? Well, the final score was 24-23. To say this was a riveting victory is really an understatement. Watching Jared Goff, Dan Campbell and the team walk around the field after the clock went down to zero was a very emotional moment for the team and Lions fans. This win means so much to Detroit. We’ve been waiting decades for this moment, and it’s here. This is our year, Detroit. Buckle up, because we’ll have another home playoff game next weekend.
The Wild Card weekend continues on Monday (Jan. 15). The Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game that was originally scheduled for Sunday got moved to Monday, due to weather. Not that the weather will be all that better on Monday. But, that game takes place at 4:30 p.m. ET. Then, the Philadelphia Eagles travel to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8:15 p.m. We’ll talk about all of this and more Monday on my podcast, “The Squad with Anne Erickson.” You can listen to last week’s episode below, where we foreshadow this win.
