Gleaner’s Host Drive-Up Food Distributions Around Metro Detroit This Week
If you’re in need, Gleaners Community Food Bank is once again hosting several mobile drive-up food distributions around Metro Detroit this week. They started yesterday and they’ll be running through Friday. If you do attend, you get 35 -pounds of nutritious groceries like milk, fresh fruits, vegetables and proteins while supplies last.
They did say that there has been an increase in traffic at the distribution sites, so you may have to experience some wait times, but it is worth it if you are in need, right? Today, those locations include the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Then from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Kennedy Building in Ecorse.
They mentioned that signing up to attend is not required, but it is encouraged. I think that helps them plan a little bit better so that there are as many supplies as they can possibly get out there. If you’re in need, visit this site to see the times and locations for the rest of the week… https://pantrynet.org/mobile-distribution-events/
Britney Loves Justin Timberlake’s New Song
Britney Spears memoir came out last year and dropped some bombshells about Justin Timberlake. Now it looks like Brit is backtracking on some of those things. She posted, “I want to apologize for some of the things I wrote about my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I’m deeply sorry. I also want to say that I’m in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song “Selfish”. It’s so good.” Do you think she’s been dancing around her house in her underwear to it?
Now, since the memoir came out, Britney’s fans have been dragging JT. Last week when he released the new single, Brit’s fans went on iTunes and made a song that she recorded in 2011 that’s also called “Selfish”, surpass his by streaming the heck out of it. Saturday iTunes had Britney’s “Selfish” number 2 and Justin’s was at number 3. Now, that’s petty.
Megan Thee Stallion Criticized For Song
Speaking of petty, Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion have been pretty petty lately. Yesterday I told you about Nicki’s diss track toward Megan, “Big Foot”. It doesn’t sound like Megan has responded at this point and I think that’s working Nicki up even more because she has just not stopped talking. The smart thing for Megan at this point is not to respond. But we’ll see.
Now, we’ve talked about the line in Megan’s song “Hiss” talks about Megan’s Law, where she’s clearly referring to Nicki’s husband. Well now, Richard Kanka has spoken out. His daughter, Megan Kanka, was murdered in the 90s by a sexual predator who at the time wasn’t legally required to identify himself. The case spurred the sex offender registry.
Kanka has said that having his daughter’s name in the expletive-riddled song aimed at Nicki is as a disrespectful as it gets. Although he said he does agree that it sheds light on the law, he feels it was done in a disrespectful manner and that using her name in such a graphic manner was highly offensive to the pain his daughter and family had felt.
I mean, the only question that I have is that somebody had to have told him that the line is actually referring to somebody that is on the list that was created from that law, right? It’s a factual statement. I’m not saying this in judgement, but Nicki’s brother was just convicted a few years ago of repeatedly sexually assaulting an 11 year old and is serving 25 to life. And her husband, regardless of the fact that it happened when he was 16, is also on that very registry. I get that he might not like that she used the law that’s named after his daughter in that manner, but it was a factual statement.
And there are a lot of people commenting online they’ve never even heard of the law and that it opened their eyes. That they didn’t realize where the sex offender registry came from. I’m sure it’s upsetting and very jarring this many years later to have this kind of attention brought to it. But again, it was a factual statement about people who are actually on the registry that was created because of their daughter.
