Hip-Hop Music To Be Celebrated With Holiday In The U.S.
After 48 years of impacting the culture, Hip-Hop is being honored with a U.S. holiday.
In a unanimous vote by the Senate Thursday, hip-hop will have a day of celebration to be honored on August 11. Additionally, November will be celebrated as “Hip-Hop History Month”.
By unanimous consent, the Senate passed S.Res.331 (A resolution designating August 11, 2021, as ‘‘Hip Hop Celebration Day’’, designating August 2021 as ‘‘Hip Hop Recognition Month’’, and designating November 2021 as ‘‘Hip Hop History Month’’)

August 11 is an important day in hip-hop history as it is believed to be the birthdate of hip-hop and culture by DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy Campbell with the party they threw back in 1973 in Bronx, New York.
Hip-hop has grown to be one of the largest genres in the world and just this year alone 10 hip-hop albums reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart which is the most of any other genre per Uproxx.
