All Aboard for This Wild Ride! I’m Back on the Detroit Lions Bandwagon

If you’ve followed me on social media since it has existed, you know that I have had a love and hate relationship with the Detroit Lions. I gave them SO many years of my life as a dedicated fan. I would watch football games all by myself all in my Detroit Lions gear, rooting for the home team for many more losses than there were wins. Pretty sure this true for most of the city’s fans.

Why I Stopped Watching
Several years back, I decided that I would no longer buy tickets or watch games until ownership had an incentive to make changes to the team. I just felt like fans were going to be loyal, no matter what, and they have been. However, for me, I felt that this was counterproductive for trying to get a winning team. For me as a former die-hard Lions fan, I can’t believe I’m even saying that I’m a former Detroit Lions fan because I still feel like a Lions fan at heart, I just wanted better for the fans, players, and the city.
Getting Back on the Bandwagon
Now that changes and the success is happening, I am not afraid to admit I am back on the bandwagon. Maybe you are too? Well, I am back sippin’ the blue Kool-Aid as they say. And there’s no-one else that I could be happier for except for Coach Campbell. If you ever watch any of his press conferences, or when they were on Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions, you can tell that he has a deep passion for the team. I mean listen to this guy. How you could you not be happy for him.
Not only did he play with the Detroit Lions in the past, but he also just genuinely wants the best for the guys, for the fans and for the city. And for that, I am thankful. So, have I officially gotten back on the bandwagon? Yes. But I truly feel in my heart like I never really feel off. If you’d like to cheer on the Lions for their next playoff game against the Bucs, here’s how to watch.

Six Detroit Bars To Tailgate Before Sunday's Lions - Buccaneers Game
Whether you’re going to the game Sunday at Ford Field or not, if you need something to do before the game I am going to let you know about six Detroit Lions tailgates. The city has been buzzing over the Lions hosting a Divisional Round game for the first time in 33 years, after winning their first playoff game in the same amount of time.
Sunday they’ll host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 3 pm and if you don’t have a spot to tailgate I’ll let you know about six bars in the D that will be hosting Detroit Lions tailgates this Sunday before the game. Five of the six bars are right downtown so you’ll be in the thick of Lions fans, and one is a bit off the beat and path.
I have called myself a bit of a Detroit Lions lucky charm the team is 21-30 since I moved to Detroit. The 3-0 in games that I have attended, including a trip to Tampa when the Lions beat the Buccaneers earlier this season. Here are the three games that I went to:
- November 9, 2022: 15 – 9 win over the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field
- December 4, 2022: 40 – 14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field
- October 15, 2023: 20 – 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium
So if you want to get me a ticket to the game, hit me up on Instagram here.
It’s supposed to be a low of 8 degrees and a high of 24 degrees on Sunday, which won’t effect the game unless you’re this Tampa Bay reporter:
So if you don’t want to be outside tailgating I am going to give you six options for a fun Detroit Lions tailgate, here are the addresses to each bar, their specials and hours are located below.
- One Mike Detroit (Downtown): 1331 Broadway St, Detroit
- Tin Roof Detroit (Downtown): 47 E Adams Ave St, Detroit
- Hockeytown Cafe (Downtown): 2301 Woodward Ave, Detroit,
