A Detroit Police Officer Posts Video Taunting a Woman in Freezing Cold After Seizing Her Car
A Detroit police officer is on restricted duty after posting a controversial video of a black woman walking home in the cold after seizing her car.
Ariel Moore, 23 was pulled over for an expired registration which led to her car being towed. Officer Gary Steele posted a video of Moore on Tuesday and can be heard in the video saying that the woman was taking the “walk of shame.”
On the video Steele posted stickers on the video that read, “what black girl magic looks like,” “celebrating Black History Month,” and “Bye Felicia” as the woman walked in the cold.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig said that he’s angry about the video and agreed with Moore’s mother who said her daughter was being degraded for no reason. Craig spoke with the Detroit Metro Times saying that Craig has a troubled past that includes attacking and shooting at his ex-girlfriend that “predates” his time on the force.
Do you think this officer should’ve been hired if he had a pre-existing problem of abuse?
