“The Lion King” Beats “Frozen” As Highest-Grossing Animated Film Ever!
The Snow Queen must pass her crown to “The Lion King,” as Jon Favreau’s 2019 version of the 1994 classic has overtaken Frozen as the highest-grossing animated film of all time!
After another successful box-office haul over the weekend, Simba and company have now earned over $1.33 billion worldwide…
Elsa and Anna previously held the record with $1.28 billion!
Despite many calling 2019’s “The Lion King” a live-action remake, it technically falls into the animated category, thanks to its heavy use of CGI.
The other films that round out the top five include “Incredibles 2,” “Minions” and “Toy Story 3.”
