What age should kids get their own smartphone?

This is a topic in which the answer differs from family to family.

According to a new survey, most people think the right age for a kid to get their own smartphone is between 12 and 16 years old.

Seems fair to me. I got my first phone when I was 12. It was a Boost Mobile "where you at" phone with the walkie-talkie and all. I couldn't imagine using that phone now of course, but I remember being on cloud nine!

4% of people think kids should get a phone before they turn 10! Uh... who are they calling?!

Crazy enough, 8% think it shouldn't be until they turn 18 . . . or even later.

My thought: Have" the talk" with your kid and then get them a smartphone. With how easy it is to view pornographic material today, you should make sure you cover all grounds before they discover it on their own!
