Kanye & Ice Cube Seemingly Make Peace After Antisemitic Fallout

Kanye West and Ice Cube have seemingly repaired their friendship after they were spotted hugging after a bit of controversy. Cube had previously expressed being annoyned at West, for citing him as an influence for his antisemitism.  According to a Page Six report, the two were seen hugging and smiling outside Ice Cube’s house. It is not certain if Ye offered an apology to Cube.  But they both left the meeting with smiles on their faces.

This comes seven months after the Donda rapper made anti-semitic comments on a podcast where he mentioned Cube. In the since-deleted episode, Ye claimed that the former N.W.A. member “really influenced” him to “get on this anti-Semite vibe.”

— Ice Cube (@icecube) October 18, 2022?" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted last October. “I don’t know what Ye meant by his statements, you’re gonna have to ask him.” Cube has long been accused of antisemitism. On “No Vaseline,” a diss track off the 1991 album Death Certificate, he rapped about Jerry Heller, N.W.A’s former manager, who is Jewish. “Get rid of that Devil real simple / Put a bullet in his temple / ’Cause you can’t be the N—- 4 Life crew / With a white Jew telling you what to do.” In  2020, he was criticized for sharing memes considered to be antisemitic on social media.

The Friday actor later followed up in a December interview with Mike Tyson when the boxing champ brought up the situation.

“I didn’t put the batteries in his back. Please leave my name out of all the antisemitic talk. I’m not antisemitic and never have been.”

“Like, homie. You gotta stand on this one on your own,” he said. “That’s all that was about. You know, I didn’t say nothin’. It’s just, at the end of the day, I just had to let everybody know that don’t blame me for s—.”

“Talk your s–- if you want to, but don’t blame me for s–-. If I ain’t up there speaking for myself, don’t blame me.”

Following Ye’s antisemitic comments, he was dropped from Balenciaga, Gap, and Adidas. While the latter has cut ties with the rapper they recently announced that they will begin selling the rest of the Yeezy stock they have left over. The sportswear company will be donating part of the profits to George Floyd’s brother’s foundation Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change. They will also be donating to the Anti-Defamation League.

“The release will mark the first time that products have been available to consumers since Adidas terminated the YEEZY partnership in October 2022,” the company wrote in a press release. “The products will be existing designs and designs initiated in 2022 for sale in 2023. Additional releases of existing inventory are currently under consideration, but timing is yet to be determined.”

At the bottom of the webpage, it informs potential buyers that a portion of each sale will be “donated in support of the fight against discrimination, hate, racism, and antisemitism.”
