NFL Won’t Let Lions Playoff Game Be Shown in Theaters
I told you earlier this week that Emagine Theaters would be holding free screenings of this weekend’s Lions versus Rams playoff game. Well, they’ve had to cancel that because the NFL said due to licensing among other things, it’s not going to be allowed at this time. Now, that sucks because it sounded like it was going to be a good time with giveaways and deals on concessions and everything. Will Smith, Flavor Flav and LL Cool J at the GRAMMY Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop. according to data, hip-hop rules in the U.S.
Hip-Hop the #1 Music Genre in The United States
I feel a certain kind of way about the current state of rap music, but chart data disagrees with me. Despite having a slow start to the year, R&B and hip-hop was the number one genre in the United States for 2023. With a 277-million total album equivalent sold, R&B and hip-hop make up 25.3% of the market. They also say that streaming volume of R& B and hip-hop tracks in the U.S. grew 11% over last year. So what do I know? It looks like it’s here to stay.
