A great way to get around downtown Detroit is by hopping on the People Mover. To increase rides they’re offering free rides to passengers for all of 2024.
Ride Around Detroit Free on The People Mover
I think I highlighted this in the Scoop before, but a reminder that the rides on the People Mover downtown are free this year. They’re hoping that it’s going to drive people back to ride it, and the number of rides have actually doubled since last year, but are still about 50% less than pre-pandemic numbers. I just don’t know that they’re going to get that high again, because a lot of people rode the People Mover when they were going to work downtown and a lot of people are still working from home, at least in part. Hopefully it does increase ridership.
They are going to be doing some major renovations as well ahead of the NFL Draft. Like adding new cameras and PA systems and TV screens and like interactive little kiosks and stuff. They’ll be working on all that through March, so you might see some stops closed along the route. Riding the People Mover is a lot of fun, especially if it’s free. I used to take my daughter Lauren when she was little and I have a great picture of her at one of the stops and she was just like, ‘This is my city!’ I would just take her around and she could see everything and you know, it’s an awesome experience.

Tupac Shakur continues to stay relevant, even 28 years after his death. A new album featuring Tupac is in production now.
New Tupac Album in The Works
Tupac fans are in store for a new posthumous album. I’m a fan and I’m waiting for this. And you’ll never guess who it’s being put together by? None other than Katt Williams. He did an interview on Suge Knight’s Collect Call podcast and revealed that Cardi B will be one of the 8 featured artists on the album. During the interview, Suge called Cardi the “Female Tupac”. Which is an interesting statement. I’m a Cardi B fan and I love her but don’t know if I’d say she’s the female Tupac. I don’t know how much of her stuff Cardi actually writes, and to me, Tupac is one of the most amazing lyricists. We’ll see.

Ludacris and Katt Williams (here with legendary writer/producer Quincy Jones) were on better terms back in 2006 when this pic was snapped than they seem to be today.
Katt Williams and Ludacris Trade Diss Tracks About One Another
Speaking of Katt Williams, in that interview that he did with Suge Knight, he actually made a diss track for Ludacris. Now, this back and forth started with him and Ludacris began when he was on Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe’s podcast show, earlier this month. Katt claimed that Ludacris landed his role in the “Fast and Furious” franchise by making a deal with Illuminati. And I don’t know if he was joking, but Ludacris didn’t seem to take it as a joke. He responded with a freestyle rap that was posted online, and now Katt responded with a rap of his own. You can hear both Luda and Katt’s raps (and decide who did it better) in this video… https://youtu.be/12oU0Cs5x18?si=TWTrChl6WLzHGAO6
