A Secret Reason the 49ers Could Be Weak Against the Lions
It’s such an exciting time to be a Detroit Lions fan. I have to say that’s it’s been even more exciting doing my podcast, “The Squad with Anne Erickson.” There’s so much happening each and every day for the Lions, and Detroit is getting so much national attention. I love it. The Motor City deserves it. The Lions deserve it. Dan Campbell, Jared Goff, Brad Holmes, Sheila Ford Hamp and the entire Lions franchise deserve it. A lot of people think the Lions’ Cinderella story will end in San Francisco. But, many people are missing a secret reason the 49ers could be weak against the Lions.
Joe Chapp of “The Detroit Lions News Podcast” joins me on my show this week. He talks about many reasons why Detroit has some great weapons against San Francisco. But, there’s one reason this game could me more lop-sided in the Lions’ favor than expected.
“There’s one thing that a lot of people are missing,” Chapp says. “If (wide receiver) Deebo Samuel can’t play on Sunday, that’s a huge loss to their offense. I looked it up, and I think they’re 1-10 without him. So, if you think about that, you go, okay, when this guy is off the field, there’s something that goes wrong with that offense.” He adds of why the 49ers could be weak against the Lions, “It’s because it all goes towards one player. It’s different with Detroit. They don’t center their offense around one player.” Samuel experienced a shoulder injury in the first half of last week’s 24-21 win over Green Bay and didn’t come back. As of the time this story is publishing, he’s listed as questionable to play this week against the Detroit Lions. For the three games Samuel missed during the regular season, the 49ers lost all three. They also only scored 17 points for each of those games, their lowest point total of the season.
