Details Revealed: Nickelodeon’s Slime-Filled Super Bowl Telecast
Nickelodeon and CBS Sports revealed production elements for the first-ever Super Bowl alternate telecast. It will air exclusively on Nickelodeon on Sunday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
The Super Bowl LVIII Live Bikini Bottom will feature enhanced graphics and advanced augmented reality, according to the news release. The “Nick-ified” telecast will have, for the first time, characters from SpongeBob SquarePants.
There will be an animated SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke). They will join CBS Sports analyst Nate Burleson. Doing the play-by-play announcing will be Noah Eagle live in the booth. Sandy Cheeks (voiced by Carolyn Lawrence) will make her sideline reporting debut, while Larry the Lobster (voiced by Mr. Lawrence) provides live commentary. NFL Slimetime’s Young Dylan and Dylan Schefter will also report live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Additionally, Dora the Explorer (voiced by Diana Zermeño) and Boots (voiced by Asher Colton Spence) help explain penalty calls during the game.
SpongeBob’s iconic “Sweet Victory” performance.
The alternate telecast will feature an opening segment from Allegiant Stadium, re-creating Spongebob’s “Sweet Victory” performance. Throughout the game, there will be what is described as hijinks from Plankton. To add to the fun and visual appeal, the end zones will be reimagined with cannons that fire Slime, Krabby Patties, and pickles.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 5, and following Super Bowl LVIII, Nickelodeon and CBS Sports will debut a programming lineup for kids and families that includes brand-new episodes of NFL Slimetime and more.
To celebrate the first-ever Super Bowl alternate telecast, Nickelodeon is inviting kids and kids at heart to climb through its Splat portal into the inflatable “Bikini Bottom Super Bowl Spectacular.” Fans will have the chance to bounce on a “larger-than-life” Krabby Patty, toss Krabby Patties into SpongeBob’s mouth, and pose for a slimy photo op with the NFL Slimetime NVP trophy.
NFL Playoff Power Rankings: 4 Teams with the Best Super Bowl Chances
We’re down to just eight teams. Who will win the Super Bowl this season? We’ll know a lot more after this weekend. But, I have to say that these matchups this weekend all look really good. I can’t wait to get comfy and watch all of the football action. So, let’s get into some NFL playoff power rankings and the teams left with the best Super Bowl chances.
As for the games, when it comes to the AFC, the Houston Texans will head to Baltimore to play the Ravens. That’s going to make for an exciting game. I totally think the Ravens will have it, but CJ Stroud is a fantastic quarterback, so he’s going to give Lamar Jackson a run for his money. Later in the day, the Kansas City Chiefs will go to Buffalo to take on the Buffalo Bills. Expect another cold game, but hopefully not as cold as the outdoor games last weekend. Why don’t these teams just accept the fact that they need domes?
As for the NFC, the Green Bay Packers go up against the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco. Man. As a Detroit Lions fan, it’s hard to root for Green Bay. But, a Green Bay win would be beneficial to the Lions, so heck, go Packers. Of course, the Detroit Lions will also host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the Lions beat the Bucs earlier in the season, the Bucs are on an incredible winning stream. I’m worried the Detroit fanbase is a bit too confident about a win, but I’m not worried that the team feeling that way. Dan Campbell and company always talk about how they’re “not finished,” and I think they see this as a winnable game, but not an easy one.
So, that completes the schedule of NFL games this weekend. Now, let’s get into the NFL playoff power rankings and four teams with the best Super Bowl chances.
