Detroit Pistons Reportedly Heading for Management Changes
I love watching the Detroit Pistons, so I was a loyal fan this season, even though we suffered so many losses. That said, now, the season is officially over, and the Detroit Pistons are heading to management changes, according to reports. The franchise does need major help, so I hope they make the right decisions when it comes to personnel changes.
Management Changes for the Detroit Pistons: Report
For me, the second football season is over, I switch to both March Madness for college basketball and the NBA for pros. Even with the Pistons’ bad record this year, which was the worst in franchise history, I watched some thrilling games. For example, I saw Pistons guard Malachi Flynn come off the bench to score an amazing 50 points during the team’s 121–113 loss to the Hawks. So, yes, I’m one of those loyal fans who will settle for seeing some thrilling games, even if we lose. But, I’d like to see the Pistons win and get back their true “Bad Boys” moniker.
If you listen to me on the radio or read my articles, you know that I’m a fan of Monty Williams, the Detroit Pistons’ head coach. I hope they keep him. He hasn’t even been there a full year yet. Give him time to work with this mess of a situation he was handed. Now, according to the experts at The Athletic, Pistons owner Tom Gores is considering management changes, including hiring a president of basketball operations to either replace or work above Troy Weaver. According to the report, the president would have “the final say on all basketball matters.” That’s a lot of power. I really like this idea. For one, although these would be management changes, everyone keeps their jobs. Gores is just thinking of adding someone, and thankfully, that person would ultimate power, so it should really change the dynamic of the organization. But, Gores has to get someone really good for this role. I hope he gets a veteran who also has present-day experience with a legacy team like the Boston Celtics.
The report from The Athletic also states that Williams will likely return to the fold. They say Williams will come back “assuming he demonstrates that he can deliver significantly more progress in the development of the team and players.” Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, as they say. Dan Campbell lost nearly every game during his first season with the Detroit Lions. So, give Williams a chance.
