Choosing a name for your baby-to-be is arguably one of the most important decisions you’ll make during your pregnancy! Should you go with something classic that will stand the test of time? Should you keep tradition with a name that’s been in your family for generations? Or, should you go for a name that’s more modern and unique?

As this list show, folks who became parents in 2020 kept their baby’s names pretty conservative despite their births taking place in the wildest year in modern history!

Baby names often mirror the times, and 2020 was no different. Some notable changes in the 2020 list include the rise in popularity in the name Kobe, which shot up 175% after Kobe Bryant lost his life in a tragic helicopter accident alongside his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, a name that shot up 216% in popularity for girls. On the social and political fronts, Kamala was 104% more popular last year and the name Liberty was up 12%. The names Karen and Chad declined by 13% and 12% respectively.
