Detroit Dog & Beer Park
If you’re a dog and a beer lover, there’s a new combo coming to Detroit. Barkside is a dog park bar and beer garden coming to Detroit’s West Village. Unleashed dogs can safely play and they’ll have people there supervising everything while their owners sit back and enjoy some craft beer and cocktails and coffee. That’s not a bad deal! There’s no exact date set yet for when it will open, but it will open this summer at Kercheval and Van Dyke roads.
LL Cool J Tour
I have been waiting 30 years for this! Literally, 30 long years. LL Cool J took to Instagram yesterday to announce his first arena tour in three decades and it got me so hyped! LL narrates the video saying, “You haven’t been on an arena tour in 30 years. You really think you ready? You think somebody’s really gonna pay to see you? You think you could fill this spot? You think you special? Think you the GOAT? What makes you think you could take 30 years off? You think you’re gonna get up on that stage and tear it down every night? And people just gonna let you do that? You think you special? You think the fans are ready? Do you even remember hip hop? Are you sure? You ready for this? I’m ready.” Yes, sir! I am ready! I need this in my life. When I saw that promo video, it made me so hype. I’ve always wanted to do a show with him. LL said The Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Z-Trip along with other surprise guests in different cities are going to be on the show as well. The tour is coming to Little Caesar’s Arena on August 18th and tickets go on sale the Friday. But you know we got you! We’ll have your shot to score these tickets every morning this week with Finish the Lyrics at 8:20 AM!

Toni Braxton Has Heart Surgery
Finally, Toni Braxton recently revealed in an interview that she had major heart surgery back in September. I don’t think anyone knew this, did we? She kept it very private. Toni said she her main artery was 80% blocked. She revealed, “It was a traumatic moment for me. I was in shock. I remember that day because my chest was aching often. Just hurting. And I thought I was sad.” Because unfortunately her sister had just passed away. But, she said, “I come to find out I had an underlying health issue. It was my body talking to me, telling me something’s not quite right.” Now, Toni was diagnosed back in, I think, 2012 with lupus. And she’s been hospitalized numerous times for that. So, although she knows the importance of checkups, she admits that she hasn’t been taking them so seriously. I hope that she does after this. I actually did a show with her at Soundboard at Motor City Casino. It was her very first show back after she had all these health issues from lupus. S0he was great to work with and everything, so I want to see her continue to be healthy. Lupus is definitely a nasty disease and I support the local organizations here in Detroit. Here’s wishing Toni a speedy recovery!
