Michigan Science Center Named Top 3 Museum by USA Today
Downtown Detroit is on a roll! USA Today readers named the Detroit Riverwalk the best riverwalk in America for the past three years straight. Now, they have come through again to name the Michigan Science Center in Detroit the 3rd Best Museum in the United States. It is a non-profit museum that’s mission, according to their website, ” is to inspire curious minds of all ages to discover, explore and appreciate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in a creative, dynamic learning environment.”
This science center is a family favorite of ours. I used to love taking my kids there to explore and watch the excitement in their faces as they learned about science. They have 220 hands-on exhibits to explore. Also, they have an IMAX® Dome Theatre, live stage shows, Toyota Engineering 4D Theater, and a planetarium to explore the galaxy and night skies. Pictured above is my daughter several years ago checking out one of the electricity and anatomy exhibits. As a parent, there’s just nothing like sneaking in some learning while the kids are also having fun.
So, get the kiddos together and head to the Michigan Science Center. They’ll expand their science knowledge while also having a blast. Without a doubt, this is something your children will always remember. Their hours of operation are Tuesday-Sunday from 10:00 A.M.-4:00 P.M. They have a Farmers Fridge on-site for healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Those include items like salads, yogurt, sandwich wraps, puddings and more. They are located at 5020 John R St, Detroit, MI 48202. General admission tickets for non-members are currently $18 for ages 3 and up and children under 2 are free. There are also ticket packages available for you to build in advance. You’re able to add on items such as the planetarium, Imax feature films and more. You can do that here.
