Lil Jon Inspired Me to Voice a Guided Meditation
What? Okay? Did you read that in Lil Jon’s voice? That voice is so unique. So, I must admit that when I heard Lil Jon was releasing a guided meditation album, I was skeptical. I know I was not the only one. But after I checked it out, I was impressed. I was so impressed that it inspired me to voice my first guided grounding meditation. It’s something that I have been considering for quite some time, but I’m someone who gets in their way with overthinking it! So, when he released him, I thought, DO IT! Just voice it, put it out there, and see what happens.
What is Meditation & What Are Its Benefits
If you are unfamiliar with meditation, let’s get into what it is & its benefits. According to The Cleveland Clinic, meditation is an ancient practice dating back thousands of years. It’s a process that can reduce stress and anxiety, improve thinking, give you better sleep, and give you a sense of overall well-being. Plus, there are many forms of meditation. So, if you’re like me and dread the silence, you can meditate with background music or enjoy a guided meditation voiced by people like Lil Jon or myself!
“But I Can’t Sit Still & My Thoughts Race”
Many people, including myself, believe that meditation is impossible because “I can’t sit long enough” or “I have so many racing thoughts that I can’t possibly do it.” Well, I can tell you that I could only sit still for almost 2 minutes and 30 seconds when I started meditating. Afterward, I’d get antsy or try to push down the random thoughts that came to me. This is true for a lot of people, so guess what? It is alright! The key is to get to a point where you think the thoughts, and they pass on by. If you try to think, “I’m not supposed to be thinking that right now,” it only creates more resistance in your thoughts. The more you practice meditation, the longer you can sit in meditation and pay less attention to those racing thoughts.
Meditation Changed My Life & My Hope For You
I started a meditation practice during the pandemic, changing my life forever. I had that pit in my stomach that wouldn’t go away. I always felt like I had anxious energy just built up. That all subsided once I committed myself to a regular practice. People would say, “Nothing ever rattles Shannon Renee.” That was a complete 180 from my previous energy. Trust me.
