American Idol comes to Michigan!
Can you sing or is it your talented cousin who’s the star?
Get ready for American Idol at Jackson College on Wednesday, August 28th. The contest is going down from 2:00pm – 6:00pm at the college’s Potter Center on 2111 Emmons Road. Only the first 200 people to register will compete, and registration begins on site at 1 p.m.
A Lansing television station is organizing the event. Each contestant will have 45 seconds to sing and will be judged on a scale from 1 to 100.
The singer with the top score earns the “silver ticket” to sing for the executive producers of Idol. If the producers sign off, the next stop is to perform in front of the real judges – Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
The second-place singer earns a pass to skip to the front of the line for the Sept. 10 American Idol auditions at Cobo Center in Detroit. Producers at the auditions send the top performers to sing for the executive producers of the show.
All are welcome to attend the auditions in Detroit next month, but be prepared to wait in line for hours!
Wednesday’s event is free, but the auditions won’t be made to the public.
Season 18 of American Idol returns to ABC in early 2020.
