Governor Gretchen Whitmer to take 10% pay cut during COVID-19 pandemic
We’re all in this together and Governor Whitmer is backing up her statement by taking a 10% pay cut during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also asked her executive staff to take a 5% pay cut as well.
Whitmer made the announcement Monday saying that she knows people are suffering and wants to help wherever possible. According to Business Insider, Whitmer made $159,300 last year, which would be a cut of more than $15,000 for the year.
In addition to making that announcement, she discussed the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order and how the next ten days will determine what will happen on April 30.
The good news is that Michigan reported its fewest new cases in a single day since almost a month ago (March 26).
Depending on how others respond to practicing social distancing, we could be looking to slowly reopen soon so PLEASE STAY HOME!
